De-Mystifying Hiring Foreign-Born Students

Each year, some 12,000 foreign-born students graduate from Pittsburgh-area universities – particularly Pitt and Carnegie Mellon. But so far, employers here have been slower than companies from other cities to hire these talented Pittsburgh graduates.

On Oct. 15, Pittsburgh Tomorrow spearheaded a new initiative – Go Global – to clarify and de-mystify how to hire these young workers. The visa process can be a daunting barrier, and Go Global – a partnership of Pittsburgh Tomorrow, universities and economic development leaders – brought in panels of experts to help employers navigate the path to successfully recruit and hire these students.
